Privacy notice

Right — here's the legal bit. The law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) says I've got to tell you, plainly, what I do with your details. No ten pages of waffle. Here's the lot.
Who I am
More4YourCar is an independent car buyer based in Southend, Essex. It's run by Alex from Southend, and I'm the "data controller" — meaning looking after your information is on me.
Reach me at sales@more4yourcar.com or 07960 896708.
What I collect
- Your registration and mileage, and the make/model details I look up from the reg.
- Your postcode (so I can work out where you are for collection) and the town it maps to.
- Your name and mobile number, and your email if you give it.
- Any quote you've been offered elsewhere, if you tell me.
- How you heard about me, if you say.
- Your browser keeps your reg and mileage on your own device (so a refresh doesn't wipe the form). That stays on your device — it isn't sent to me until you submit.
Why I use it, and my lawful basis
I use it for one thing: to value your car, make you an offer, and sort the sale and collection if you go ahead. Under UK GDPR my lawful bases are taking steps at your request before a contract and my legitimate interest in answering your enquiry. I won't use your details for unrelated marketing unless you've said I can.
The instant price is automated
The guide figure is worked out automatically from historic market data — it's a ballpark to start a conversation, not a binding offer and not a decision with any legal effect on you. A real person (me) gives you the firm offer.
Who I share it with
- Identifying your car: I look up basic vehicle details (make and model) from your registration, using the DVSA's MOT data and other vehicle-lookup services. The valuation itself is worked out on my own system — it isn't sent off to anyone.
- Messaging: if you choose to message me on WhatsApp, that runs through WhatsApp/Meta under their terms; by email, through my mail provider.
- I do not sell your personal data, full stop.
How long I keep it
No longer than I need it. As a rule: enquiries for about 12 months, and completed purchases for about 6 years (the taxman needs that). After that I delete it. You can also ask me to wipe it sooner — see below.
Cookies & tracking
No advertising or tracking cookies, full stop. The site has simple logging without annoying cookies so I can see what's going on — it's just on my own server, nothing leaves my kit. I also keep a simple log of form submissions so I can spot if something's broken.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask me to: see what I hold (a "subject access request"), correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how I use it, or hand it over in a portable form. Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it any time. Just use the contact details above, or the form below.
Not happy with how I've handled your data? You can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) — ico.org.uk, helpline 0303 123 1113.
Wipe my data
Want me gone? Pop in the email and/or mobile you gave me and hit the button. To make sure it's really you — and not some randomer deleting your stuff — I'll email you a 6-digit code. Enter it, and your removal request is logged and actioned.
Sorted. Your removal request is logged and I'll clear your data from my records. If you sold me the car, I may have to keep the sale paperwork for tax — but that's it.
